Normally we wouldn't even waste our time on a song like this BUT we noticed thousands of people sharing and celebrating it - even celebrities in India. Sidhu Moose Wala (Kanye West of Punjab) even called this song the "defination of feminism" - so we thought we'd check it out, hoping for a new anthem to our women's empowerment work. It was as if we were expecting a warm hug and got a slap in the face. In this episode as per usual we attempt to translate the song and have a laugh while we're at it. Simran Kaur Dhadli's newest song has resonated with millions, so much so that we may have overestimated the progressive views of Punjabi folks (I mean Sidhu's own music video Brown Shortie features Sonam Bajwa, and according to Simran women dressed like Sonam should drown and die...

p.s we might be laughing but if you follow me on Instagram you'll know I'll be writing to the Immigration Minister in Australia, Canada , USA & UK to ban her from ever touring abroad until an apology is issued, I've already written to her production company to demand the song be taken off Youtube as it incites violence against women.

A reminder that we do not hate Moosewala but aren't afraid to call out such behavior, he has some good music and we have a podcast we recorded coming out about this rise to fame and how his music has shaped an industry - it's possible to both appreciate certain talent AND call these people out, having said that I won't be listening to his music anymore and as for Prateek - you'll have to tune in to hear what she's got to say.
